My daughter is now the proud new resident of a big girl room (if you consider a room for a 2 year old a “big girl” room 🙂 )! She officially has a brand new bedroom in order to make room for her little brother coming in March!!
This has been a work in progress for quite some time now, and I’m thrilled to finally share the final product.
At first, I struggled when it came to chosing a “theme”, but I finally decided to choose colors and a wide variety of patterns, instead of a theme, and then build out from there.
The colors I chose were mint, navy, coral, and gold.
My inspiration for her new room was a fabric swatch pattern I had seen on pinterest/etsy.
I didn’t want to have to paint every wall in the room, so I settled for only painting the main accent wall a dark navy.
Next, I went out in search of curtains, sheets, and a comforter. I found these sheets, no problem, from pottery barn teen but, sadly, the perfectionist in me could not find exactly what I was looking for in curtains or comforters, so I ended up ordering this fabric from fabric.com (huge THANK YOU to my friend and co-worker, Valerie, for cutting and sewing them into two pannels) and this shower curtain (YES, you read it correctly, a shower curtain) from Etsy. I covered a plain white down comforter with the shower curtain for some added dimension and color.
Thirdly, I ordered several throw pillow cases from dappled daydreams custom handmade bedding on Etsy for the bed and canopy area. LOVE THEM!!
I made 2 banners and individual letters to spell the word “read” out of decorative card stock paper from Hobby Lobby, bought a long white wooden shelf and two coral colored pom-poms (also from Hobby Lobby), purchased a sheer white canopy from wayfair.com, and had my Best Friend, Brigette, from B.K. Designs make me some wooden arrows and gold polk-a-dot wall decals (she also made the individual wooden block letters that spell out my daughter’s name for my baby shower over 2 years ago). The tan upholstered bed frame is from walmart.com
For a final touch and more dramatic effect, I spray painted the existing guest room lamp bases coral and found these (similar) metal end tables at Hobby Lobby which I also spray painted gold (much less expensive at Hobby Lobby)!
I am so pleased with the final results and Addie seems to like it too!! It turned out better than I had anticipated and I couldn’t be happier.
