Dining Room Details

You know you’re decorating your home the right way when you can’t choose a favorite room!  Honestly, I love my formal living room for the obvious reason that it, other than my kitchen, is the most used room in the house and I’ve spent a lot of time perfecting it to my liking.  But I would say my dining room is a very close second!

In years past, I’ve changed up my dining room decor with the seasons- mostly Thanksgiving and Christmas– and while I love to entertain, sadly I have to admit, the dining room is the least used room in our house!

Perhaps that’s why I love it though?  It is the one and only room in my house that’s almost always neat and tidy; The only room that’s always clean; The only room that my kids don’t destroy!  Other than a stray toy from time to time, it’s most generally a perfect room.

I greatly appreciate the large bay window that allows an abundance of natural light to brighten up the space with beautiful, soft lighting.  Adding a touch of soft florals helps to  give the overall feeling a slight feminine and pretty look without overdoing it.

I really enjoy the layered look of the chargers, plates, and napkins, even though this particular set up is strictly for looks rather than to eat on.

The light griege (grey + beige) walls (paint color is Indian River by Benjamin Moore) and monochromatic palette help to visually expand the small space.  Layered off whites and neutrals along with the clean walls and airy window treatments help achieve a relaxed look.

My Coffee Bar functions so nicely in our dining room!

The window treatments were a quick DIY project by yours truly!  That’s right!  I made them.  You can read more about the DIY curtains here.

I also made the 45 degree angled curtain rods!  Read more on that DIY project here!

The double tray ceiling adds an elegant touch to an otherwise boring space and really makes it pop.  I especially love the large, arched entry ways in our home.  They pair so perfectly with the tray ceilings to create a unique vibe.
