In a dream world, I would start each morning with a relaxing massage, breakfast in bed, and a long spa-like bath, with a few cups of coffee and a professional makeup artist and hair stylist…..
In the real world, I wake up to an obnoxious alarm clock (way earlier than I prefer to get up) to which I typically hit “snooze” repeatedly, a dog that needs fed, a child that needs dressed and fed, and myself who needs the same. Let’s face it, mornings are the most hectic part of the day! But lately, I’ve made a few small, simple changes that have been just the thing I needed to get my day off to a great start.
1) Rise and Shine
Avoid the temptation to hit the snooze button! (I know, soooo hard) Place the alarm clock out of arms reach so you’re forced to get up to turn it off. Use the additional time to quickly stretch, enjoy a longer than usual shower, or enjoy a second cup of coffee.
2)Wake up Better
Each day, when the alarm goes off, think about all the things you are thankful for before you even climb out of bed. Try to name off one thing you appreciate and are grateful for. How you feel in the morning affects how you feel for the rest of the day! Focus on good things.
3) Plan Ahead
Lay out what you (and your kids) are going to wear the night before. This way, you don’t have to spend extra, unneeded time assembling outfits in the morning.
