Fall 2016 Family Photos

I would like to say “Thank You” once again to Amelia Holder with Holder Photography for these beautiful family photos.  We will cherish them for a lifetime!

I love the combination of our color scheme.  Maroon, tan, and denim are great fall colors and they contrast nicely with the surrounding foliage.

Fall Picture Wardrobe

Here are a few helpful tips on planning your family photo wardrobe.

  1. Plan Ahead
  2. Be comfortable
  3. Think about your location and temperature
  4. Pick a color scheme
  5. Don’t get too “matchy, matchy”!  You can pattern mix.  Use complementary tones and alternating ‘matching’ to create a cohesive look without looking just a like.

If you need ideas, pinterest has about a thousand different pins for family portrait wardrobes.

My Incredible Family- Halloween 2016

Boom!!! This picture, and the title of this post says it ALL!  They are my everything!

This was so much fun!  I can’t wait for next year!  Definitely the start of a new family tradition!

Happy Halloween 2016!!  #theincredibles

Christmas Fun!

Aww… Look at that!  She really liked him this year!  She’s laughing so hard it only looks like she’s crying!!!

Christmas is my favorite time of year.  I love the family time,  lights, decorations, music, scents, and cozy nights by the fireplace.  It always seems to go bye too fast.

I’m the crazy person who decorates right after halloween….trying to make the most of the Christmas Season!  I truly enjoy the way my house looks with all the christmas decor.  It’s too bad it’s not “ok” to keep the decorations up year round!!

This year was especially fun.  My daughter is at the perfect age for unwrapping gifts and her excitement was contagious!  It is so much fun to watch her open gifts and experience the joy of Christmas through her eyes.  Of all the days to sleep in, she had to pick Christmas morning!  She didn’t wake up until 9:30am!  I got up at 7:00am to make breakfast and start the coffee for my mom and brother (my husband does not like coffee), thinking surely she would be up before 8:00am all ready to get this party started!  Nope. 9:30am!  Every other day she’s up with the sun!

Her reaction to each gift was priceless.  “Look at that!” and “Oh gosh!” are some of her favorite expressions now!  Her most favorite gift of all?… Sofia the First dress, shoes, necklace and wand.  She wore it for two days straight!

Aside from opening gifts over the holiday weekend, we decorated sugar cookies, built a gingerbread house, played the pie face game, and ate (a lot)!  It was a successful and wonderful Christmas!

Picture Perfect

Starting last year, I decided to make it a yearly tradition to have family pictures taken each Fall.  I like to use them for Christmas Cards but, it’s also nice to have a documented photo from the same time each year to look back on through the years and see how much we’ve changed (or make fun of!).

I have pinned what seems like hundreds of “family picture outfit combinations” on pinterest in preparation for the big day.  Last year we went with a navy and red color scheme, and this year we did burnt orange, tan, and brown.

As I recall, last year it was fairly easy to take picture of the three of us.  We brought along our nephew to distract Addison, or rather, get her attention, so it appeared she was looking at the camera and smiling….and she did just that!  She was really cheesing it up!

This year, different story!  We weren’t able to bring our nephew along this time and she is now developing stranger anxiety.  Needless to say, it took quite a few shots to capture the “perfect” pose, but somehow we managed to pull it off.  Whew!

Excited to see how our 2016 family photos turn out as we will have a new member of the family (a boy) joining us in March!!!!!

Big THANKS again to Debra Aslanidas for capturing these moments.
