Where I’m From

I am from a small, traditional, quiet, family driven community in North Central Missouri. The charming, picturesque, community-minded, boyhood home of Walt Disney, beaming with tiger pride.

I am from the frequent sound of train whistles, comforting home cooked meals, Sunday morning church pews, front porch swings, Friday night football, the Bell Game, beer, bonfires, and, backroads.  Where everyone knows everyone, rumors fly, and traditions never die.

I am from a place where directions are given by landmarks, rather than road signs, there are no stoplights, and you’re guaranteed to find a parking spot.  Where traffic isn’t a big deal, people honk and wave “hello”, and hard work gets done with two friendly, helping hands.

I am from a welcoming, neighborly town who’s old-fashioned and value centered. Where life passes at a slower pace, and feelings run deep.

I am proud to be from Marceline.

  1. My parents moved to Marceline in 1955. Both are gone now, but I too, along with my brother and sister, are proud to be from Marceline. It was a great place to live. Thank you for your blog on my hometown.
